MediaTek’s Helio P90 is equipped with a separate APU design, flaunting the 614GMACs (Giga Multiply-Accumulates per Second) while the Snapdragon 710 uses CPU, GPU, DSP and Snapdragon AIE engines for AI apps.

It is worth mentioning that the recent popular midrange processor Snapdragon 710, it’s Kryo 360 architecture is also based on Cortex-A75, so the performance of Helio P90 and Snapdragon 710 is very close, at least in day-to-day use. Further, Qualcomm’s Adreno GPU and baseband chipsets takes the edge in terms of gaming and connectivity respectively.

P90 uses upgraded A75 cores, also uses a better GPU than the Kirin 710. While the Kirin 710 can power the mid-range smartphones from Huawei. P90 is capable to give performance similar to Kirin 970 and other sub-premium chipsets.

The running score of MT6779 (Helio P90) on GeekBench 4 is single core 2052, multi-core 6589 or so, which is the leading Snapdragon 710/670 and Helio X30. It is basically in the same position as Snapdragon 675 and Kirin 970.

P90 is a close competitor to Snapdragon 710, while Kirin takes the 3rd spot. Helio P90 is a significant upgrade in the Helio mid-range series.
