Snapdragon 845 Features

After the success of the Snapdragon 835, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 comes with a host of upgrades that make it a worthy successor to the 835. Snapdragon 845 uses Samsung’s second-generation 10nm LPP process, eight-core architecture, four Kryo 385 big core + four small cores, big cores clocked 2.8GHz (performance increase of 25% to 30%). The small cores are clocked at 1.8GHz (performance increase 15 %), the big-small core clusters come with a shared 2 MB L3 cache.

GPU upgraded to Adreno 630, Qualcomm said 30% increase in GPU performance, 30% increase in energy efficiency, 2.5 times increase in display throughput; Integrated Spectra 280 ISP, support for 4K 60fps video capture; Supports LPDDR4X 1866MHz highest 8G capacity.

One of the biggest new features the Snapdragon 845 brings is the ability to shoot HDR 4K video at a rate of 60 frames per second. It can also capture slow 720p video at 480 frames per second and 1080p video at 120 frames per second. For still photography, the Spectra 280 ISP of the Snapdragon 845 can perform multi-frame noise reduction at a rate of 60 frames per second on 16-megapixel images. It also supports a wide color gamut and 10-bit color depth, which is 64 times the previous color depth.

The Snapdragon 845 also integrates a Bluetooth 5.0 interface to allow devices to simultaneously broadcast audio to multiple speakers or headphones. The company also said that the system can provide up to 50% more battery life for real wireless headsets.

On the network side, the Snapdragon 845 integrates the X20 LTE baseband with a maximum download speed of 1.2Gbps, which is 20% higher than the X16 last year’s peak speed and actual speed. Supports Cat.18 network, five-carrier aggregation, 4×4 MIMO, dual-card dual-VoLTE, and also supports 60GHz 11ad WiFi.

In other aspects, the 845 also supports Qualcomm’s third-generation AI platform, three times the AI performance of Snapdragon 835, providing stronger AR/VR support, and built-in security encryption chip Qualcomm SPU. Still support QC4 + fast charge, 15 minutes can charge 50%.

Snapdragon 845 continues the performance & power balance of the Snapdragon 835 with advanced computing and AI features for next-level photography in flagships of 2018 and beyond.
